Prepare a professional profile, an ID photo, a visa upload or small portraits for the family. Choose a useful starting size, then check the requirements of the place receiving it.

More sizes without guesswork
The editor also offers 1×1 and 1.5×1.5-inch squares, 35×45 mm, 30×40 mm, 50×70 mm and 2×3-inch portraits. A size alone does not make a photo valid for a country or document.
Canadian paper passport example: 50×70 mm is the required size, but the photo must be taken in person by a commercial photographer and professionally printed. Do not use the at-home workflow as a replacement for that service.
For a résumé or CV, first check local hiring conventions. A photo is optional and often discouraged in some markets; a professional networking profile is a separate use.
A natural background, without a new face
For permitted profile and ID uses, automatic background cleanup separates the person locally and replaces the backdrop with white or soft off-white. It does not generate a new face. Use the edge adjustment and compare with the original; fine hair, glasses and difficult lighting can produce imperfect edges.
Use a real backdrop when official rules prohibit edits. U.S. and UK passport presets disable appearance and background changes. See photo-taking examples and lighting tips.
Why keep the original?
Most users can ignore this optional control. It is for applications that specifically ask for an unedited original, or for preserving a HEIC/HEIF file that the browser cannot edit. The prepared download is your cropped/resized output; the original is the exact file selected. Saving it does not apply a new background or create a print sheet.
